Messi Bids Farewell to Argentina as Ronaldo Pays Tribute: “Your Story Will Live On Forever”

Messi took to social media to reflect on his farewell match for the Argentina national team, with Cristiano Ronaldo leaving a message of tribute in the comments.

Messi wrote:
“Yesterday was my last match with the national team, and now I’ve already started to miss the feeling of putting on the blue and white shirt again. I know that I’m making the right decision. It has been an incredible journey, filled with moments of happiness as well as some sadness, but I know very clearly that every step along the way was worth it.

I still have so much to say. A few words or a single post could never express everything I’m feeling right now. Without my family, none of this journey would have been possible. They have always been by my side and supported me, especially during the most difficult moments, when I needed them the most. 🙏
My friends, all of my teammates who shared the journey with me, the coaches who have guided me, and their coaching staffs have also been an essential part of it all. I also don’t want to forget Diego. He helped put our country in the place it deserved to be. As I have always said, I know that whether he is here with us or watching over us from heaven, he has been there to help us every step of the way.

Thank you to all the clubs I have played for. Thank you for always respecting my feelings and allowing me to give my full commitment to the national team whenever it was time to put on the Argentina shirt and represent my country.

And, of course, thank God. Without His guidance and His will, we could never have imagined making it this far.

I am filled with gratitude. I love you all very much. I will miss you, and I will always be grateful to you for being there for us and for me.”

Cristiano Ronaldo commented:
“Leo, you have fought for your country for so many years, and the story you have written will live on forever.

My highest respect for everything you have achieved with Argentina.

A big hug.”
