Six Indonesian Stars Lead Southeast Asia in Market Value Growth After FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026
Arsenal have once again turned down an approach from AC Milan for young attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri. The Italian club reportedly proposed a season-long loan deal that would include an option to make the transfer permanent for around €40 million. Despite Milan’s interest, Arsenal have not given the green light for the move as they continue to assess the player’s situation.

Nwaneri has emerged as one of the most highly regarded young talents at Arsenal and has also represented England at Under-21 level. Milan see him as a potential solution for their attacking midfield options and are keen to bring him to Serie A. However, Arsenal’s decision-makers have yet to seriously consider the latest proposal, with manager Mikel Arteta still expected to have an important say in determining the youngster’s future.

The situation could still change before the summer transfer window closes. Milan are reportedly looking to strengthen their squad with several additions, including a defender, a winger and an attacking midfielder. Nwaneri is believed to be their preferred target for the latter position, making the English youngster a key part of their recruitment plans.

Arsenal have previously shown some willingness to let Nwaneri leave on loan. During the second half of the 2025-26 season, the club agreed to send him to Marseille on a temporary deal, although that arrangement did not include any option for a permanent transfer. This suggests Arsenal may consider another loan spell if it is viewed as the best way to support the player’s development.
Milan are also exploring alternatives should their pursuit of Nwaneri fail to progress. Dario Osorio of Midtjylland has reportedly emerged as another option, while the possibility of signing Matias Soulé from Roma appears increasingly difficult. For now, Nwaneri remains at Arsenal, with his next move likely to depend on Arteta’s plans and whether Milan can return with a proposal that better suits the Gunners’ expectations.
